Hurricane Gold, the fourth Young Bond adventure from Charlie Higson has been published yet again in the United States. This time in paperback form with a slightly different cover. This precedes the US launch of By Royal Command and the first Young Bond graphic novel, SilverFin, next month on the 18th.

Not a whole lot on the slate for upcoming literary releases that we know of unfortunately. Look forward to By Royal Command, the fifth and supposed final Young Bond novel in 2010 for a US release and a release this May in the UK in paperback form.

US Hurricane Gold Cover Art Revealed

Over at the YoungBondDossier they’ve posted the official cover art for Hurricane Gold’s US hardcover edition. The artwork is in the same vein as the hardcover for Double or Die and the upcoming paperbacks for SilverFin and Blood Fever (Double or Die’s too).

Try as they are, Double of Die’s is still the best in my opinion. Still, not a bad cover by any means.

Limited Edition Hurricane Gold

According to recent post at the YoungBondDossier, a Limited Edition hardback of Hurricane Gold has been released in the UK. For £25, the edition comes signed by Charlie Higson and includes a slipcase. Only 1000 copies are in existance numbered 001-999. Though it says the publication date at Waterstone’s is November 1, it looks like it is actually available to order, even online. You can also get it from Hatchards.

Hurricane Gold Shortlisted For BA Book Prize

The Young Bond Dossier reports that Hurricane Gold was shortlisted for the Booksellers Association’s of Independent Booksellers Book Prize (this is why they typically abbreviate to “BA”) for 2008 in the Children’s category. Good luck to Charlie, but he’s also gotta contend with J.K. Rowling’s final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and to a lesser extent Anthony Horowitz’s Snakehead.

The winner will be announced on 31 October.

The Young Bond Dossier reports that Hurricane Gold can now be pre-ordered at Amazon.com. Still a long ways off from its scheduled release of April 7, 2009, I highlight this because of the prototype U.S. Hurricane Gold cover that can be seen on YoungBond.com from artist Kev Walker. YBD has a picture of it and a little info on that here.

Hurricane Gold Paperback Edition Released

While in the United States we just got our hardback edition of Double or Die, the UK today got their hands on the first paperback edition of Hurricane Gold the fourth novel in the Young Bond series by author Charlie Higson. Obviously the release of Hurricane Gold in paperback form is outshined by the release of Devil May Care today, but it’s a good book all the same and Bond fans young and old should pick it up too if you haven’t read it or if you just want to collect it for a set of first editions.

The fifth and perhaps not so final Young Bond novel, By Royal Command, will be released later this year in the UK on 4 September. Pre-order it from Amazon.co.uk Hurricane Gold will make its way to the United States for release on April 7, 2009.

Gold Hurricane Gold

Gold. Everyone’s favorite precious metal is making its way into a single copy of Hurricane Gold, the most recent novel released in the Young Bond series by author Charlie Higson. The book was unveiled today at the Imperial War Museum where it will become part of the Ian Fleming exhibition currently on display.

Posters Galore

This week two promotional posters have hit the Internet. The first can be found exclusively at CommanderBond.net and promotes the upcoming Centenary release of Sebastian Faulks’ Bond novel Devil May Care. See it here.

The second is a poster for Charlie Higson’s fourth Young Bond novel Hurricane Gold which will finally make its way to paperback in May. See it the YoungBondDossier.

Gold Cover = Gold Sales

Or so it would seem. Picking up on a semi-old story; if you bounce around the James Bond Internet scene, you might have seen a couple reports stemming from Publisher’s Weekly that Hurricane Gold’s sales were definitely helped by the gold cover. Honestly, who doesn’t like shiny things? ;)

The Young Bond Dossier’s coverage asks the question, if gold cover = gold sales, how do you follow that up?

Answer: Silver, duh. Though clearly not as cool as gold, but just as shiny.
