Australian aborigine girl – Bond meets an Australian aborigine girl while walking out in the desert. She aids Bond in retrieving water from the roots of a tree. Momentarily later she surprises Bond by speaking English after initially being uncommunicative. She also points out the direction to Uluru, Australia.

“Assassin” – The assassin was used by General Wong to kill Guy Thackeray immediately following a press conference in which Thackeray announced he was selling his majority stake in EurAsia Enterprises to China. After blowing up Thackeray’s car, he is chased through a building by Bond, although when Bond attempts to apprehend him, he jumps over a railing several stories to his death.

Bates, Corinne – From the public relations office of EurAsia Enterprises, she is sent with Johnny Leung to rendezvous with James Pickard at Kai Tak Airport and make arrangements for his trip to meet with General Wong in Guangzhou, China.

Boothroyd, Major – Also known as “the Armourer” and the head of Q Branch, Boothroyd equips Bond with standard-issue field shoes (model F). Several items are able to be stored in the heel of the shoe including a plastic dagger, wire cutter, file, microfilm reader, microfilm maps, bottle of antiseptic, tweezers, acetaminophen tablets, generic amoxicyllin, bandages, sunblock, and petroleum jelly. Additionally the shoe strings are inflammable and can generate enough heat to melt a half-inch iron bar.

Chang, “Tom” – A Chinese albino he is one of three brothers that is loyal to Guy Thackeray and EurAsia Enterprises. He is nicknamed “Tom” by James Bond. During the raid on the Glory he fights hand-to-hand with James Bond and is kicked overboard. He later climbs back up only to be killed by Sunni Pei after she breaks his sternum effectively stopping his heart.

Chang, “Dick” – A Chinese albino he is one of three brothers that is loyal to Guy Thackeray and EurAsia Enterprises. He is nicknamed “Dick” by James Bond. He is killed by Li Xu Nan after being kicked into a raging firing on the deck of the Glory. The deck later gives way sending “Dick” into the inferno below.

Chang, “Harry” – A Chinese albino he is one of three brothers that is loyal to Guy Thackeray and EurAsia Enterprises. He is nicknamed “Harry” by James Bond. He is killed by Bond after being kicked out of an airplane somewhere over Western Australia.

Desmond, John – The retiring chairman of the board of directors at EurAsia Enterprises. A special event was held in his honor on June 18, 1997 at The Emerald Palace, a “floating restaurant” in Hong Kong. During the event, the entire building is detonated killing everyone inside including Desmond.

“Doc” – A member of the Hampshire Constabulary Tactical Firearms Unit in England.

Donaldson, Gregory – A partner with Fitch, Donaldson, and Patrick from England, he is Guy Thackeray’s solicitor. He is sent to meet with Thackeray on June 10, 1997 about privately owned EurAsia stock. Donaldson was killed the very next day in a car bomb staged by Guy Thackeray to look like General Wong was responsible. Donaldson was later replaced by James Pickard from the same law firm.

Ho, Henry – An expert in the culinary arts, he is the manager of the Man Wah, a restaurant in Hong Kong. He is said to be a long time friend of James Bond.

Lane, Stephanie – Codenamed 05, she is a single-O-level agent working for the British Secret Service. She is tasked with observing Bond at the funeral of Admiral Derek Plasket, a friend of Sir Miles Messervy’s in Zero Minus Ten. She later observes him for two weeks before ambushing Bond with her colleague, agent 03, at Shamelady as part of a training operation for both agents 03 and herself as well as an unsuspecting James Bond.

Leung, Johnny – The assistant to the interim general manager at EurAsia Enterprises, he is sent with Corinne Bates to rendezvous with James Pickard at Kai Tak Airport and make arrangements for his trip to meet with General Wong in Guangzhou, China.

Li Chen Tam – Li Xu Nan’s father. He founded his own Triad, the Dragon Wing Society. He made a deal with Thomas Thackeray so that EurAsia Enterprises could distribute heroin all over the world so long as Tam and his Dragon Wing Society provided the goods and the muscle.

Li Pei Wu – Li Xu Nan’s grandfather. He lost the families fortune to the Communists in 1926.

Li Wei Tam – Li Xu Nan’s great-great-grandfather. He had an addiction to opium and was a good friend of James Thackeray. He made a deal with James that if Hong Kong should ever be removed from British hands the business would go to Tam and his family. The legal document went into effect on July 1, 1997. James Thackeray died in 1871 and was replaced by Richard Thackeray who continued to deal opium to Li Wei Tam till his death in 1877.

Li Xu Nan – The Triad head of the Dragon Wing Society, he is associated with Guy Thackeray and heroin smuggling to England. He is confronted by James Bond at a club called The Zipper. Because Bond has knowledge of whom Nan is, Nan assumed that his identity was leaked by Sunni Pei and subsequently issues a death warrant for her murder. Pei is later taken prisoner by the Dragon Wing Society, but is handed over to Bond after Bond accepted and completed a mission for Nan whereby a legal document was retrieved granting him ownership of EurAsia Enterprises (rightfully his in the first place) once Hong Kong was exchanged from the British to the Chinese. Nan later helps Bond try and prevent Guy Thackeray’s nuclear bomb from going off and in doing so gave his life to save Hong Kong. He is shot to death by Thackeray aboard the Glory.

Ling, Bobby – As assistant cook to Chan Wo at the Emerald Palace, a “floating restaurant” at Aberdeen’s Shum Wan Harbour on the south shore of Hong Kong island. Bobby is killed by one of the Chang brothers.

M – A successor Sir Miles Messervy, she is the head of the British Secret Service and suspects Guy Thackeray of foul play after the Emerald Palace, a floating restaurant in Hong Kong explodes killing the entire board of directors of EurAsia Enterprises. She sends 007 to Hong Kong to learn who is behind this terrorist attack and to stop them so that the exchange of Hong Kong from the British to the Chinese goes smoothly and without interruption.

Marksbury, Ms. Helena – Bond’s personal secretary shared with all the other Double-Os. Though not directly, she succeeded both Loelia Ponsonby and Mary Goodnight in the position.

Marsh, David – A Sergeant with the Hampshire Constabulary Tactical Firearms Unit, Marsh tracks the cargo vessel Melbourne and confronts the crew about their cargo. When Marsh declares the cargo is heroin a firefight breaks out eventually ending with the crew of the Melbourne all gunned down by the TFU.

“Mary” – The barmaid of the local Star and Garter motel in Kalgoorlie, Australia.

Messervy, Sir Miles – By the time of Zero Minus Ten, Sir Miles Messervy KCMG, formerly M, head of the SIS, is retired. He is mentioned as being friends with Bond and the two occasionally meet at Blades.

Michaels, Mr. – Codenamed 03, he is a single-O level agent working for the British Secret Service. He is tasked with killing James Bond during a training exercise at Shamelady in Jamaica along with Stephanie Lane (05).

Mitchell, Gary – A Hampshire Police officer. He and Charles Thorn first confront the crew of the Melbourne in England about going through customs. Both he and Thorn are killed in a subsequent firefight.

Moneypenny, Miss – M’s secretary at SIS. After Sir Miles Messervy retired, Moneypenny is mentioned as staying on and getting along splendidly with the new M.

O’Connor, C.Y. – Skip Stewart’s great-grandfather. Stewart proclaims that O’Connor brought water to Kalgoorlie, Australia around the turn of the century during the gold rush. When the water didn’t flow quickly enough to Kalgoorlie, O’Connor shot himself. The water later arrived a week and half later.

Pei, Sunni – A “Blue Lantern” (associated non-member) of the Dragon Wing Society. She betrays the Triads for James Bond and is marked for death as a consequence. Bond escorts her back to her apartment where they find her mother dead seemingly of natural causes. At the apartment the Triads attack forcing both Bond and Sunni to flee to T.Y. Woo’s safehouse. While Bond is away at a press conference Woo’s safehouse is ransacked by the Triads and Sunni is taken hostage. In order to get her back Bond is forced to go on a mission for Li Xu Nan to recover a lost document. After doing so Sunni is returned and the two go to Australia to investigate a nuclear bomb and its potential link to EurAsia Enterprises. While there Sunni is taken hostage, this time by Thackeray. She is later recovered in Hong Kong during a raid on Thackeray’s boat, the Glory. During the raid Sunny kills “Tom” Chang while Bond defuses the bomb. For aiding the British, Sunni is awarded a passport to England, Canada, or America.

Pickard, James – Working for Fitch, Donaldson & Patrick, Pickard is deployed from London to meet with General Wong, however, when he lands in Hong Kong James Bond takes his place. Pickard was sent to replace Gregory Donaldson.

Plante, Captain Charles – Bond is instructed by M that Captain Plante will contact him at the safehouse on June 30th and extract him from Hong Kong just prior to the exchange. This never occurs. Bond instead contacts Plante from Kowloon and asks that he and his men aboard the Peacock aid Bond in finding Guy Thackeray’s ship, the Glory. Once found, the Peacock is instrumental in sinking it along with Bond and Li Xu Nan. After the mission is completed Bond is ordered by M to accompany Captain Plante back to England.

Plasket, Admiral Derek – Stephanie Lane is sent to observe Bond at Plasket’s funeral. At the funeral, numerous VIPs are present including M, Sir Miles Messervy, Moneypenny, Major Boothroyd, the Prime Minister, and Bond who served as as pallbearer. Plasket was a war hero who commanded an assualt team during World War II that speacialized in raiding Nazi bunkers to collect intelligence for the Allies.

“Scarface” – An associate of Li Xu Nan’s. Bond follows him from the Container Port at Kwai Chung to a secret location where the Triads were conducting a sacred ceremony.

Sinclair, Simon – A gambler at the Lisboa Hotel & Casino. He plays mahjong with Guy Thackeray, T.Y. Woo, and James Bond. He is an associate of Thackeray who on his behalf assassinated two officials in Beijing hoping to spark a conflict after the death of Gregory Donaldson, a British lawyer whose death was made to look like it was done by General Wong. After the completion of the mahjong game in Macau, he is killed by Thackeray’s men staged to look like a Triad hit.

Stewart, Skip – A patron of a local bar in Kalgoorlie, Australia. He offers Bond his services as a pilot if Bond ever needed it. After Bond is forced to crash land in the middle of Western Australia, Bond calls Stewart and asks to be picked up at the Ayers Rock Airport and flown to Perth. Bond pays him a small fee in exchange.

Tanner, Bill – M’s Chief of Staff and long-time friend of James Bond. Tanner is said to have had the choice of retiring alongside Sir Miles Messervy, but deciding to stay on. According to Tanner he doesn’t regret the decision and has come to greatly respect the new M.

Thackeray, Guy – The son of Thomas Thackeray and the heir to EurAsia Enterprises taking over in 1977. He continues his father’s business arrangements with the Triads by supplying the means to distribute heroin all over the world. He is being muscled out of Hong Kong by General Wong who is using a document signed between James Thackeray and Li Wei Tam to take control of EurAsia Enterprises. To avenge his family’s legacy, Guy Thackeray decides to start a new war between the British, whom he hates, and the Chinese by detonating a nuclear bomb in Hong Kong using uranium his company mined in Australia. To cover his tracks Thackeray also has his entire board of directors killed at the Emerald Palace, as well as Gregory Donaldson and Simon Sinclair. He also fakes his own death. When the bomb is ready, he returns from Australia to Hong Kong, but is prevented and killed by James Bond.

Thackeray, James – The founder of EurAsia Enterprises (circa 1836) and a friend of Li Wei Tam. His was heavily involved in opium trading. He made a deal with Li Wei Tam that if Hong Kong should ever be removed from British hands the business would go to Tam and his family. The legal document went into effect on July 1, 1997. James Thackeray died in 1871. James was the great-great-grandfather of Guy Thackeray.

Thackeray, Richard – The great-grandfather of Guy Thackeray, he took over EurAsia Enterprises upon James Thackeray’s death in 1871.

Thackeray, Thomas – Guy Thackeray’s father and a previous taipan of EurAsia Enterprises. He made a deal with Li Chen Tam to provide the means to distribute heroin all over the world so long as Tam and his Dragon Wing Society provided the goods and the muscle.

Thorn, Charles – A Hampshire Police officer. He and Gary Mitchell first confront the crew of the Melbourne in England about going through customs. Both he and Mitchell are killed in a subsequent firefight.

VanBlaricum – A nuclear physicist hired by Guy Thackeray to build machines that can extract U-235 from U-238.

Veronica – alias; see Sunni Pei.

Wo, Chan – The head cook at the Emerald Palace, a “floating restaurant” at Aberdeen’s Shum Wan Harbour on the south shore of Hong Kong island. He is killed by one of the Chang brothers when he goes looking for Bobby Ling, his assistant, in the storeroom.

Woo, Chen – Nicknamed Chen Chen, he is the son of T.Y. Woo. After both his father and uncle are killed he is put into foster care.

Woo, J.J. – The brother of T.Y. Woo. He is killed by the Triads after the Hong Kong safe house is ransacked.

Woo, T.Y. – Works for the British Secret Service station in Hong Kong. He meets James Bond upon his arrival and sets up a mahjong game in Macau so that Bond can meet and get to know Guy Thackeray. During Bond’s stay in Hong Kong Woo is constantly helping Bond until his safehouse is ransacked by the Dragon Wing Society, although T.Y. and his son escape. T.Y. later shows up in Guangzhou where he is captured and killed by General Wong. Woo’s death weighs heavily on Bond since Bond had to act like he didn’t know him to stay undercover, effectively sending T.Y. to his death.

Wong Tsu Kam – At one point a Colonel in the Chinese military, he had influence over the poppy fields in Guangzhou. The heroin that was supplied by the Triads for EurAsia Enterprises to distribute all over the world came from Wong who refined it from an area known as the Golden Triangle and smuggled it into Hong Kong where the Triads would smuggle it onto EurAsia Enterprise’s ships. With the money he was receiving from this deal Wong was able to work his way up in the Communist party till he became a General in 1978. Somehow Wong came under control of the document between James Thackeray and Li Wei Tam and because the Li family had fled China, upon the Hong Kong exchange from the British to the Chinese, Wong proclaims that EurAsia Enterprise would then belong to China under his control. Wong is assassinated by James Bond, however, and the document is also taken by Bond and returned to the Li family, currently headed up by Li Xu Nan in Hong Kong. Bond initially was only going to steal the document, but sought out revenge after Wong had T.Y. Woo executed.
